Animated Screensavers

Most of the animated screensavers bear little resemblance to the sort of pictures one often associates with the word “animation.” Perhaps the word “animation” once caused the majority of the public to envision a carton character on TV. Since creation of the animated screensavers, however, that is no longer the case.

A few of the animated Christmas screensavers do offer a picture that can easily entertain a small child. One such screensaver shows Santa traveling from rooftop to rooftop, going down the chimney sticking out of each roof. Another animated Christmas screensaver has put a dancing snowman on a number of monitor screens.

Animated screensavers can give any scene a more realistic appearance. Winter scenes are popular among the screensaver users. Still, those who require a screensaver tend to want more than a calming still picture. They like to be able to watch the virtual falling snow.

The snowstorm is not the only weather phenomenon captured in a screensaver. Animation has allowed a sea storm to appear on more than one desktop. That screensaver shows the approach of the storm, the havoc created by the storm and the calm after the storm. 

Computer users who want a more colorful screensaver might elect to obtain an autumn screensaver, rather than one with a winter scene. Does that mean that the computer user must abandon animation in order to enjoy more color? No, it does not. There are animated screensavers with falling autumn leaves.

An animated screensaver does not need to have only one kind of movement. An animated screensaver with a lake scene might well have at least two types of movement. It might have both rippling water and also ducks and geese floating on the lake.

Animated screensavers can cause the viewer of the screensaver to feel like he or she is moving. Such screensavers generally cause the screensaver viewer to feel like he or she is riding in an airplane. One such screensaver causes the screensaver viewer to feel like he or she has been carried over the surface of the ocean. Another similar screensaver re-creates the view during a flight over a green field.

Many patriotic computer users have chosen to obtain one of the animated screensavers. They like to put a display of fireworks on a monitor screen. Both Christmas and the 4th of July have been greeted enthusiastically by those who own one of the properly themed and animated screensavers.

Although some computer users like to see a scantily clad girl in a screensaver, other computer users prefer an animated screensaver. Some computer users have moving girls on a screensaver. Those moving girls are acrobats, performing various floor routines.

Of all the animated screensavers, one of the most popular is the one with the jumping dolphins. That screensaver shows the dolphins doing four different jumps. It also places those jumping dolphins in eight different locations.

At this point, it is difficult to predict what direction the future makers of animated screensavers might take. Perhaps they will make a screensaver that shows whales leaping out of the water. Perhaps they will develop a screensaver that re-creates an avalanche or a firestorm. Maybe they will show athletes doing one of the extreme sports.
